RUN FAST tells the story of Vivian, a Kenyan runner who travels to Los Angeles to compete in her first professional marathon. Her sponsor, Peter, himself an aging former runner, watches his long-shot protege demonstrate tremendous potential in her first race. As he prepares to take their partnership to the next level, Vivian confronts him with the realities awaiting her back in Kenya. Kindred spirits hailing from very different worlds, these two must coexist to harness her potential or risk losing everything.
Vavian Kapsabet, a young runner from Kenya, is sponsored by former runner PETER to run her first American marathon.
[VIVIAN KAPSABET] 20-30, African (preferably from Kenya) or African American, quietly proud, smart, strong, determined, Vivian is a talented runner who comes to L.A. to run in the L.A. Marathon. She speaks most often with her eyes. From a poor, traditional Kenyan family, Vivian hasn't told her father that she's come to L.A., and is determined to either win or go home, back to an arranged marriage, the dowry of which will provide her father with several goats and a new bicycle. Sponsored by Peter, a tough former runner himself, Vivian comes in third in the Marathon, and an impressed Peter is all set to find her other opportunities. However, Vivian, disappointed in herself, believes her only option is to go back to Kenya in defeat. Must look/have a marathon runner's physique.
